Groninger Museum

The Groninger Museum in the Netherlands is famous both for its architecture and its exhibitions which attracts a large number of visitors.

It was designed by a team of architects led by Alessandro Mendini a central figure in modern Italian architecture.

The Museum was inaugurated in 1994.

Groninger Museum's Exhibition, AZZEDINE ALAIA IN THE 21st CENTURY, by Mark Wilson

From 11 December 2011 to 6 May 2012, the Groninger Museum will present the exhibition entitled Azzedine Alaïa in the 21st Century. This exhibition displays the most fantastic Alaïa fashion creations of the last ten years. Alaïa is one of the last major couturiers still active. The exhibition is a follow-on to the overview of his work shown in the Groninger Museum in 1998, which was subsequently displayed at the Brant Foundation in New York in 2002.

Tunisian-born Azzedine Alaïa is one of the most important fashion designers of the last decades. The name Alaïa stands for glamour, sensuality, style, cut, self-confidence, comfort and, of course, sex appeal. His range of clothing has received great acclaim from celebrities.

During the exhibition period, the Groninger Museum will organize special step-in guided tours on the theme of Azzedine Alaïa in the 21st Century.

Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey perches in a highland forest in China's Zhouzhi National Nature Reserve. Maturity comes by age seven. Life span is unknown.

 On down time, I was sitting thumbing through my National Geographic Mag (my mom has a subscription and when she's done she passes them on to me) I came across this little cuttie and I instantly felt heart warmed. This lil guy sitting on a branch made me so happy:)

The work of more than a dozen Middle Eastern artists is now on display at Sundaram Tagore Gallery in Chelsea. Written Images: Contemporary Calligraphy from the Middle East explores the role of traditional Islamic symbolism in the context of the modern Arab world. Informed by the visual elements of ancient Islamic art, the exhibit examines the idea of the written word in religious, political, and social terms.
