Siwa Egypt

Oasis in western Egypt with 15,000 inhabitants, in the interior of the country, near the border to Libya, at an depression of 18 metres below sea level.

The oasis is 82 km long and has a width varying between 2 and 20 km. The economic base of the oasis is agriculture of which dates and olives are the principal produce. There are 300,000 date palms and 70,000 olive trees. The agriculture is fed by natural springs as well as a couple of artificial ones. In the recent decades, Siwa has suffered more and more from increasing salification of the soil. The people are Berbers, and have their own language. To Siwa, there are 3 larger salt lakes, Birket Maraqi, Birket Siwa, and Birket Zaytun.

The main settlement is Shali, situated at the centre of the oasis. Tourism has gradually given employment for some, but the number of visitors remains small, yet transparent in the oasis.

Ross Lovegrove's Alpine Capsule Architecture

After a bout of radio silence, Ross Lovegrove makes a welcome return to the world of conceptual design with his latest project, the Alpine Capsule.

The capsule – designed for one-night stays – is audacious not so much for its visual reference to Anish Kapoor, but for its, literally, breathtaking location 2,100m above sea level in Piz la Ila in Italy’s Alta Badia region.

"Passion " by Utada Hikaru

English Translation

When I remember back far, far
The future was forever shining
Below the pretty blue sky
We were only frightened a little

This window is stained with sorely missed colors

If I keep on looking forward
Will I meet you again?
Because the future really continues on forever
Underneath a large sign
I want to watch time change

Towards the people, the places
I will never see again
I open this window

When I remember back far, far
The future was forever shining
Below the pretty blue sky
We slept endlessly

The person I loved long ago
Is to have a child in winter
Sometimes I just want to doubt
Our promises made long ago
I could never forget
I wonder if your New Year's card will have a photo
I just look back, and miss
All the things we could never do
My fears, my lies
Below the blue sky

My fav vid:) GRACEFULNESS!
