"Under the Wave off the Coast of Kanagawa" 1823-29
Katsushika Hokusai was born 9/23 /1760 the 10th year of the Hōreki period. He was one of Japans leading artist, best known for his ukiyo-e woodblock prints from the Edo (Tokyo) period. The Edo period (1603 – 1863) is one of Japan’s greatest art periods. Hokusai is author of the "Thirty- Six Views of Mount Fuji”. It shows different views of Mt. Fuji in different seasons, weather, places and distances.
